Need some new Baby-Led Weaning Recipes? Try these Halloween themed Sweet Potato Bites.
The best part about Baby-Led Weaning is the fun you and your baby can have enjoying new foods. Get creative with your menu by serving food in different ways. It can sometimes take from 10-15 exposures of any given food for your little one to add it into the ‘regular foods they like to eat’ cycle.
Rest assured, every time you offer a food to your baby, you’re one step closer.
Try our sweet potato bites to add a little spooky fun into mealtimes this Halloween.

1 medium purple sweet potato
1/2 cup quick oats
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup almond flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
(Optional) maple syrup to taste
Greek yogurt
Soaked sultanas for eyes or (Optional for older kids) candy eyes*
*Note: Do not serve candy eyes to small children who are not proficient in chewing hard objects. Use soaked sultanas instead.
Method:
- Place purple sweet potato in pot with an inch of water. Cover and boil until sweet potatoes are soft. Drain the water and mash sweet potatoes with a fork.
- Place quick oats and 1/2 cup water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute.
- Add mashed sweet potato, almond flour, cinnamon, maple syrup into the bowl and mix thoroughly. Shape mixture into balls.
- Put greek yogurt in a squeezie sauce bottle. Drizzle over balls to create a mummy effect. Place sultanas on top to create an eyeball effect.
Help your little one spear the eyeballs with the grabease Stage 2 fork.
